Foray Registration is Now Open!
The WV Mushroom Club annual foray will be held at Blackwater Falls State Park on July 19-21. Online registration is now open and can accessed here.
In addition to the traditional Saturday foray events, there will also be Sunday morning walks with experts and several new Friday workshops will be offered this year. Among them are:
- Beginner Mushroom Identification
- Oyster Mushroom Cultivation
- Mushroom Art with nature illustrator Rosalie Haizlett
Last year's popular
Microscopy workshop with Shannon Nix will be reprised with two Friday workshops that can accommodate 12 people each.
We're fortunate to have back with us a great team of experts in mycology and nature. Adam Haritan, founder of Learn Your Land will be with us again and will be leading a Friday morning walk for those who can make it to Blackwater Falls early.
Walter Sturgeon, who recently published a great new field guide to Appalachian Mushrooms, will be with us again this year to help identify the
mushrooms we find. Helping Walt will be John Plischke, and Django Grootmyers.
In addition to all of these great workshops and experts, there will be the traditional mushroom tasting feast (prepared by Laurie Little of White Grass Cafe), a merchandise table where you can buy lots of mushroom paraphernalia and of course, a silent auction where the club raises funds to put on next year's foray.
See the Foray page for more details, or feel free to email with questions.
